๐Ÿ€ Lead with Grit: 3 Leadership Lessons from St. Patrick for 2026

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! As we wear our green and celebrate Irish heritage, it is easy to get caught up in the folklore and fun. However, the story of St. Patrick himself offers a profoundly different perspective on leadership—one shaped by adversity, long-term commitment, and incredible resilience.

As leaders looking toward the rest of 2026, we often face our own "wilderness" moments—times requiring grit over genius, and perseverance over popularity. Here are three leadership lessons to take from his legacy:
1. Adversity Builds Unshakeable Purpose
Patrick’s journey wasn’t one of comfort or stability; it was shaped through hardship. He didn't build a legacy on easy victories. True progress comes from embracing challenges, not avoiding them. When facing tough Q2 goals or organizational changes, remember that resilience is your greatest asset.
2. Persistence Overrules Popularity
The danger of modern leadership is sometimes "romanticizing success," ignoring the hard work it takes to get there. Patrick showed that staying true to a long-term goal often means enduring resistance. Leadership is about holding the line and maintaining focus on your purpose, even when the path is difficult.
3. Community is Our Pot of Gold
While we celebrate the luck of the Irish, the real success story is in our connections. Whether it’s supporting local community events like the Shamrock ‘N Run or connecting with team members, our strength is in our network.
This St. Patrick’s Day, I challenge you to ask yourself:
  • What difficult challenge am I avoiding that I need to face with resilience?
  • How can I support my team to ensure we are all "lucky" to be working together?
Let’s carry the spirit of endurance and community into the rest of 2026.
Slรกinte! (To your health!)
